LUCILLE MARTIN
Lucille Martin is an Australian Multi-disciplinary Artist and Scholar working across digital Photography, iPhoneography textile, Lithographic transfer, drawing, video, found object and hand-making mediums transversing a passion for the natural and physical landscape and deep ecology. Her work reflects the significance and timing of current anthropogenic and climate focused events throughout the world, acting as a conduit to the audience through her poetic works formed within a creative practice of hand making materials, residencies, networks, and exhibitions.
“Her practice has steadfastly and successfully connected conceptual substance, production and presentation in the exploration of themes within solo, group and curatorial exhibitions, awards and residencies throughout Australia.” Paola Anselmi, Curator and Arts Advisor, 2021,
Education, research, and policy making are fundamental to her themes and methodology, which underpin a wholistic lifestyle and curiosity to learn, share, and exchange knowledge with local and regional communities as a focus toward bi-lateral and symbiotic projects for the future. Martin’s early exhibition programs focused on photo-documentation, collage, and acrylic paintings alongside a thirst for knowledge via academic and scholarly studies at AFTRS, majoring in Production design and in 1990 Master of Arts at UNSW, Sydney (UNSW), Majoring in 4D & Photography. These specialised additions to her material and conceptual skillset provided a synchronous opportunity in a multi-arts practice of Installation work for curatorial exhibitions and thematic multi-media installation projects in Australia, Japan, and New York.
Lucille trained professionally as a graphic designer, majoring in fine art, and after graduation was was headhunted across Australia to work the ranks with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Sydney. Within 3 years her professional skills were commissioned in print publishing groups in Sydney freelancing for Australian subsidiaries of Vogue, Harpers and Marie Claire, alongside ownership of affiliates with Penthouse, Belle, Dolly, TV Soap Magazines, amongst others. Her training upgrades also also took her to London and Manhattan, New York.
In 2023 she was nominated to CLIMARTE Board, (NFP) Australia and is active in promoting environmental awareness within her art practice. Lucille is based in Perth, and works between Melbourne, Sydney and Byron Bay, Australia lucillemartin.com climarte.org/about-us
